To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have julie’s spicy meatballs using 13 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

    Ingredients

The ingredients needed to make Julie’s Spicy Meatballs:

    1. Make ready 2 lbs. ground meat. All beef will work, but I prefer a mix of beef and veal, or a mix of beef, veal and pork
    2. Get 1/2 sweet onion, finely chopped (food processor works nicely)
    3. Take 1 hot pepper of choice, finely chopped. I used a long hot and left the seeds in, also chopped in the food processor
    4. Prepare 1 raw egg, for binding
    5. Take 1/2 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
    6. Take 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    7. Take 1/4-1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    8. Make ready 4 basil leaves, chopped
    9. Take 1 TBS. dried parsley or a bunch of fresh chopped parsley
    10. Make ready to taste Salt,
    11. Get to taste Black pepper,
    12. Take 1/3 cup milk
    13. Make ready 2 TBS. flour, for coating meatballs

The sauce is what really ties everything together. Try an Italian dinner tonight with this spaghetti dish. I've been craving these since my Aunt Pam made them for our Christmas. Like Swedish Meatballs, Grape Jelly Meatballs or Cranberry Pinot Noir Meatballs - whether it's an easy appetizer or tasty snack, yum!.

    Instructions

Instructions to make Julie’s Spicy Meatballs:

    1. Mix all ingredients together, except flour, and form into apx. 16 meatballs.
    2. Coat each meatball in flour by rolling it around on a plate. This wonderful cooking tip comes from Tony Danza’s meatball recipe! This prevents sticking while they fry.
    3. Brown the meatballs by frying in a pan for about 8-10 minutes, turning once. I prefer frying in bacon grease for added flavor, but any oil will do.
    4. Finish cooking meatballs in a pot of your favorite tomato sauce (homemade is best! See my recipe for homemade tomato sauce), simmering (covered) for at least one hour. The longer they simmer, the better they are!
    5. Serve with spaghetti or any other pasta, using the reserve of sauce for your pasta.
    6. Buon appetito! 🇮🇹

Anyway, I kept bugging my mom to get the recipe and low and behold I found out it came from one of my favorite church cookbooks and I had it. This is pretty easy - mix all of the ingredients together and roll one meatball - taste the meatball and add more ingredients as needed. Fry all meatballs or put them in the over until browned and cooked through. When done cooking set some aside to nibble on and throw the rest in your sauce. I like to save the drippings to put some in my sauce too!
